Special Needs Planning

Individuals with disabilities of all ages and their families have many goals and face many challenges in planning for the future. Achieving a good quality of life, maintaining eligibility for public benefits, managing assets effectively, minimizing taxes and selecting the right fiduciaries are all important elements of an overall strategy for the individual’s long term well- being. Public benefits rules and policies are subject to change, as are family circumstances. The development of a special needs plan will aim to take into account present and future needs as well as respond to changes in the environment, while striving to support the autonomy and independence of the individual with disabilities to the greatest extent possible.
